Barming

Country walks lead through a varied landscape of woodlands, orchards, meadows, farmland and the Medway Valley. The walks are suitable for family groups, strollers and serious ramblers. Walks can be planned with the assistance of public transport thus avoiding the need to retrace your steps.

At the time of the Domesday Survey, 11th century Barming was divided between East and West, the latter part known as Little Barming, which had its own church until the end of 1535, is today known as Barn Jet.

Until 1997 the River Medway was crossed at Barming by the only timber vehicular bridge on the Medway, this has now been replaced by a temporary footbridge that pedestrians and horse riders can use. The ancient woodland provides pleasant sites for picnics, there's also a wide variety of flora to delight those who like to explore or enjoy a tranquil environment.
